Never Too Late For A Good Graduation

.
.
.
.
Here are the, almost forgotten, photos of what I looked like at my graduation in june. I am totally behind my schedule for posting these now. But when it comes to good pictures, that you have really put yourself into, I believe it's never too late. These photos are taken by my dear sister, and styled and edited by me.
.
These exact pictures were taken about a week after the actual day, but my graduation was the most magical day. Maybe except for the few moments when it unfortunately rained a lot, but even so the experience was something I've never been through before. The whole day was scheduled and planned out for you. I probably got up around 5 am and went to bed at 2 pm. You would think that all those hours would give you some kind of rest between the events, but that was unfortunately not the case. I have never in my entire life been activated, physically, socially and mentally, as many hours as I was during that particular day. So, obviously, I was beyond tired when heading home that night, but I had had a great day that's for certain. A memorable day.

Like the cherry on top

.
.
Jonas took these photos of me a few weeks ago and right after that I was supposed to post them, so  you could get a better hint of what my new shoes looked like. But since it has been so much going on the last few weeks before graduation and stuff, I haven't had the time. Now when things, like prom for example, have past I finally get o show these to you. As you probably can see I have used my circular flash in this photo session and I think it went perfectly with the feeling I was looking for. The contrast between my skin, dress and sunglasses came out really good and clear when editing, just as I had hoped. And I am so happy about the feeling my shoes are bringing to the pictures, they're like the cherry on top.
.
.
.
However, the black velvet dress I found at the Red Cross a while ago and it has these cute flowers on it, but unfortunately they are really hard to spot here (at all..). Sunglasses are Cheap Monday and my shoes are Jeffrey Campbell from Envi Shoes and I actually bought them particulary for my graduation day, but I sort of couldn't wait until then.

Would Cinderella fit in this world

.
.
The past few weeks have been full of preperations for the high school prom and last night it all happened, it was time.
.
Prom has been something I've longed for since pre-school. It has always seemed like the perfect night, when everyone dresses up in their most beautilful dresses and suits. Then they arrive at the ball in fancy cars, to walk down the red carpet with either a princess och prince on their side. For one day you would get to live the life of Cinderella or Sleeping beauty, or in the boys' case the princes in these stories. It would be magical.
.
.
.
.
.
Since pre-school my expectations for this day had gone down a lot. The thought of being in a cinderella story didn't feel that realistic, so it was long gone. Yesterday I experienced this event and to be honest, even though I didn't feel like the actual Cinderella, I did feel like a princess during the whole night with my own prince by my side. Surrounded by other princes and princesses, we arrived in a fancy car, walked down the red carpet and even waltzed one time during the night.
.
I am glad I got to experience this night for many reasons, but one is that I realized that princes and princesses are actually for real and not only in the royal house in Stockholm. Even though it's a shame those sides of us are so rare in everyday life, at least I know they exist.
The point, however, is that I had a magical night at prom and these pictures are just a preview of what it and we looked like.

ABBA during the 70's

.
.
.
.
.
My parents and I often take walks through the golf course that lies near by our house. Mostly beacause it has great walking paths that altogether gives you a length of 3 miles, which normally is what we're looking for. But also because of the amazing sourroundings. With the meadows and different sizes of hills all colored with bright green and at night when the sun is on its way down it is a pretty magical sight i can assure you. It actually feels a lot like a scene picked out from Sound of music
.
However, I have been craving to take photos there and so Jonas and I did a while ago, when the green grass had just started showing. I chose to wear a top I have sewed myself and my new pink 70's pants, which according to my 12-year-old brother makes me look like one of the ABBA artists. I found them at second hand, and even though I am not completely comfortable wearing them yet, since it is not the most common garment in my closet at all, I really like them.

brutal green hearts

.
.
About a week ago, when we had a few days off from school, Jonas and I brought the camera and shot a few photos inside and outside, with and without circular flash, here and there. Those times when you ignore your real to-do-things, like school assignments, can sometimes be the best. Because then you have consciously chosen to do something else, and truly taken time to do it, which often makes the activity much more succesful. That's what I've experienced anyway.
.
However, These photos are a few of the bunch we took that day. You'll get to se more later on, so stay tuned.

I am back.
Back from the most magic week of my life, in Tenerife, with my dearest friend Sofie. And I have a LOT of photos to edit and then post here, so be prepared. But for now you'll get to see this four small previews of what I have been doing and experienced down there. Stay tuned.

a mixed tape for the lady in pink

.
.
.
Here is the rest of the photos I showed you in a post about a week ago, you know the one with my most recent investments. Well anyways, here they are in their true colors.
.
The egg-shaped sunglasses I recently bought at the Red Cross, has a touch of the 50's don't you think? Goes perfectly with my 50's bathing suit.
.
The tape recorder I bought this autumn at a second hand store in Gothenburg. The only thing missing right now is a few nostalgic tapes to mix it with. I had a lot of them when I was younger, which I guess  are up somewhere in the attic but only God knows where.
.
.
This mini-light strand is one of my new investements which is not placed in my wardrobe. It didn't look like this when I bought it, I was inspired by Underbaraclara, so I also bought these crazy-pretty paper mugs and put them on the light strand.
.
the sleeveless turtleneck I actually sewed a few weeks ago, and I absolutely love it. Real simple to do too and a really simple-looking garment, perfectly matched to a colored or patterned skirt.
.
.
.
Both of the skirts I found at the Red Cross recently. The pale one might look like it's white, but it's actually a pastel-kind-of-yellow. Perfect for the easter-weekend coming up. The striped skirt in red and white is truly comfortable and I actually think it looks like a skirt directly taken out of the swedish children's movie called "Emil i Lönneberga" by the famous author Astrid Lindgren. That was one of my favorite movies as a child, so it makes me a proud owner of this special skirt.
.
.
.
.
Lastly I wanted to show you my crazy-pink coat I bought about a month ago, also at the Red Cross. There is not a lot of garments you fall in love with, but this one was a truly love-at-first-sight-moment-garment and I don't say that a lot so this is very rare. I love the elegant feeling and the cut of it.
I haven't found the perfect day to wear it yet though, but now with the spring slowly starting to appear it will be much easier.
.
.
.
And now I am in Tenerife, finally. We arrived a few days ago and everything is amazing here! There will be updates later on.

TCO - introducing a test for future employees

.
Okay so this is something only concerning those who live in Sweden and therefore I will take this in swedish.
.

Christmas and New Year's Eve, just around the corner

.
.
I guess I owe you an apology for my terrible distans lately. I don't think I have to explain that Christmas is a crammed and stressful time of the year. It's a lot of preparations going on - planning all the christmas presents, making a lot of candy and pastries - and on top of that some last school assignments.
It has been a lot until now, but it is starting to blow over.
.
However, I have recently received the most beautiful dress, as you can see in the photos, from the brittish clothing company Dahlia. It suits me very well and I believe it will be perfect for New Year's Eve. Sparkly and shiny in a nice way, don't you think?
I am not sure what to wear for Christmas Eve though. Maybe I will sew me something, that is so much more fun than buying a super-expensive outfit, which often not even is what you were looking for anyway.
A skirt or a top in burgundy would be nice. Let's see shall we.
.
.
.
.
.
I hope all your Christmas preparations are going well at this stressful time, and that you will have a wonderful Christmas and New Year's Eve with your friends and family.

Have A Look At My Kitchen Aid

.
.
So, last week I had my autumn break and took the opportunity to go and visit my dear sister in Gothenburg. I stayed for the whole week and we had the most wonderful time, visited amazing second hand stores and picked up some real bargains as the red turtleneck and the corduroy pants (that I'm wearing in these photos). We hung out with her lovely friends and a few of our cousins and other relatives, baked bread and cookies, took long walks to the grocery store, did photoshoots in my sister's amazing apartment, as you can see, and these took place in her kitchen. Sometimes it can be so much more fun to do your photoshoots inside, if you find a spot where the light is workable. I prefer to use my fisheye when taking photos indoors, because then the light usually works better and also because almost the whole room will be included in the pictures, and if it is a cool spot the pictures will come out great.

Red turtleneck - second hand. Corduroy pants - second hand. Silver spotted socks - monki. Zebra Creepers - Rokit.
.
As you have probably noticed by now, I have cut hair. Oh wait, correct sentence; My sister has cut my hair. I was bored with my past hair-cut so I decided to cut it right of. And I was supposed to let a hairstylist do that for me, but they didn't have the time so I let my sister do it instead. And it came out pretty great, don't you think?

Tennisball At Midnight Whatsoever

.
.
.
.
A couple of weeks ago I came up with this idea of having a photoshoot at night on a soccer field. So I brought my dear friend Amanda with me to the green field with white lines and photographed all night, almost anyway..
However, the pictures came out even better then I expected, thanks to the bright spotlights shining above us. We used my fish eye lens and it made the field look like a huge tennisball, which became a pretty cool detail I think. One really should do these kinds of photoshoots more often. In places that are different from the obvious ones, like this soccer field. It is also so much more fun to do it by night, or any other unusual time of the day, if you find a place with even one light source.
.
The flowery skirt that I'm wearing I found at the Red Cross store in Umeå and it fits absolutely perfect. The turtleneck is from H&M, the wine-colored hat I borrowed from Jonas and the striped platforms are Jeffrey Campbell.

colorful streets of Notting Hill need tie dye overalls

.
.
.
.
.
.
Except from visiting Notting Hill that day, we also went to one of our favorite places, Hyde Park. The weather was marvelous and we bumbed into a lot of different, but interesting animals. Mostly squirrels and doves. The squirrls you could find all over the park, so cute and innocent. One even came up to me and touched my hand with its nose. Friendly creatures. We saw a lot of grey doves, but also one white one. It was the most beautiful thing. Unfortunately, hard to get a photo of it when it kept moving around. So I took a mental picture instead. So you'll just have to visualize it.

after all.. I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy

.
.
.
The fourth day of our week in London we went to Notting Hill. Strolling through alleys eating the most wonderful creamy gelato ice cream. I picked two amazing flavors, biscotto (the italian version of milk and cookies) and hazelnut. Truly amazing. We bought it at a cute little ice cream store called Gelato Mio, which I strongly recommend for those of you who will visit London and Notting Hill.
For me who has seen the movie "Notting Hill", as I am sure many of you have too, it was just fantastic to be surrounded by all these cute colorful buildings and houses and the blue shiny doors with golden doorknobs as they have in that movie. It kind of felt like you were Julia Roberts "Anna", just for a second, walking down the street with sunglasses and visitng small boutiques with books and other interesting stuff.
.
I wore my new tie dye overalls that day, which I bought the day before at a great second hand store at Camden Market. They are wonderful, perfect for those days when you don't have the strength to come up with something to wear. Then you can just put these on and have a whole outfit done already. perfect. I will show you the whole outfit more clearly later. until then, stay tuned.

thus an orange turtleneck and leafs of autumn

.
.
.
The other day I put on my new favorite turtleneck, which I accidently found at The Red Cross about a week ago, and Amanda and I went to a beautiful park in our city, where autumn turned out to be hidden. As you can see for yourself in the pictures, there was to be found the most wonderful colorful trees and the ground was covered with leafs in different shades of autumn.
.
.
.
the orange turtleneck is the Red Cross, the lace skirt is from Topshop, the orange lipstick is Mac and the Zebra Creepers.
.
As you probably know by now, if you have been reading my blog for a while, I am not a skirt-kind-of-person. These last couple of days, though, I've become the opposite. Especially the combination of a skirt in a longer length, a belt and a turtle neck. So you will probably see more of that in the future.
.
By the way, I am well aware of the fact that I need to dye my hair roots, I guess I will do something about it soon. Who knows?
.
However, the Fashion Week of Umeå is over, but altough it is sad a wonderful week is coming up. My dearly missed sister is coming home tomorrow. She is staying for for the week during her birthday and then I am going back with her to Gothenburg during the Autumn holiday.

you have a costume for this year's fashion week?

.
.
Okay, so I am right in the middle of fashion week, in my city. Which means different events to got to. I've already been to two of them, one to go. The first one was yesterday. A great fashion show by The Red Cross, which I will show you some pictures from later on, since I witnessed the whole thing. This evening I went on fashion event number two, with Amanda. It was, among other things, a release of JohannaN's latest jewelery collection. We mingled, drank champagne (a bit of a cliche, I know), were privileged with amazing live background music and checked out the latest collection of course.
.
tomorrow I am going to another event, which I probably will show pictures from later, also. But until then, good night and sleep tight. I will not have a problem with that tonight I can asure you, I will go to sleep as little baby.
I am well aware of the fact that I am mumbling a little right now, but isn't that feeling just amazing?

a surprising fairy tent story

.
.
So I figured I should show you a special event from this summer that I created, that I am very proud of. It truly is more than okay to be proud of something you've accomplished, even if some people may express the opposite. We often tend to underestimate ourselves, which is very wrong and unnecessary and unfair to yourself. We are able to do much greater things than we know of.
.
however, my dear boyfriend's birthday was coming up, and I thought I would do somthing special, which came out to be a sort of surpise thingy. While he was working I spent the whole day preparing for his home coming. Which, among other things, included buliding the most wonderful little tent, with anything useful that I could get hold of. It actually turned out pretty great. I cooked dinner, made dessert, put it in a basket and prepared a picnic outdoors beside the tent. Lighted some candles, wrapped the presents and turned on some music. When he came home there was a few notes of clues wainting for him, which was supposed to lead him to the picnic I had prepared. It was amazing to see the look on his face when he finally got there. It was very appreciated.
.
I am well aware of the fact that a simple cake and some presents would have been enough, he would have been just as happy. But that wasn't the point. I think everyone deserve some kind of surprise, something unexpected. And let's be honest, the reaction and look on a person's face, when surprised, is truly irreplaceable. It is much more fun this way, don't you think, doing something even greater?

Compliments in the rougher part of London

.
.
.
.
If you ever go to London, you truly need to visit Covent Garden and Brick Lane. It was two of those wonderful places that I fell in love with during my stay there. Covent Garden has the most perfect dinner restaurants, the food is absolutely amazing. The third day we managed to visit four different places. Camden Market, Brick Lane,  Covent Garden och Earl's Court. They are all great places, but I especially recommend Brick Lane and Covent Garden. Camden Market is, obviously, a market full of different things; chinese food (as you can see pictured above) and a lot of clothing stores with really intersesting and rather usual stuff. Brick Lane is a really cool place, the bit rougher part of London, but yet so cosy and they have huge and amazing second hand stores, one of them is the great store Blitz. You should check it out!
Earl's Court and Covent Garden I have told you about before, in earlier posts, but we had our hotel in Earl's Court and Covent Garden was this magic place with restaurants and troubadours.

it was a great day and we met a lot of interesting and nice people. Basically everyone who lives in London is nice, truly. Two unexpected but nice guys, as you can see on the picture above, stopped because they wanted to be in a picture. Another nice person that we met on Oxford Street on a different day suddenly came up to us and said tht he just had to stop and tell us what nice outfits we had on, he just had to stop and say that. Amazing isn't it? We, Swedes, should really learn from them. To give compliments to one and one other.

all of the clothes that I am wearing in these pictures are new. except from the backpack. The knitted black sweater is from Topshop and so is the amazing lace skirt and the blue Dr Martens.

here is part two, of the Pink Adventures photoshoot, that I promised and told you about. All these pictures are taken here in Umeå, where I live. One really should do these kind of adventures more often, you get to know your city in a different way and you realize that it actually isn't half bad. Umeå sure can be beautiful.
.
As you probably have noticed by now there is a car showing in some of the pictures. It was the one who got us through the whole city during this adventurous day and has been by my side since the beginning of july. It was a birthday gift from my dearest Jonas. So from now on we are proud owners of this beauty, that we all call Bosse. A bit silly naming a car, you may think, but according to us it makes it a lot more fun and personal.

on the bottom you have to remember the top, and the other way around

.
as long as the snow is laying on the ground and you have to wear more than a million layers to not be cold or get wet, you will have to do your best to remember the best moments. During the winter it is the upcoming spring carrying the light with it and the futuring summer adventures waiting to be experienced, that is keeping my energy going.
I read somewhere that when you are on the bottom you have to remember what it felt like being on the top, just as when you are on the top, you have to remember what it felt like on the bottom. great words.
these photos help to remember one of the best things about summer, being able to wear what ever you want and bare legs is not a problem. summer might just be the most wonderful time of the year.
